DEION BURKS
Scout's Take
Deion Burks is a polarizing "Freaks List" athlete whose all-world speed has struggled to translate into consistent production. At 5'9" and 188 pounds, Burks possesses explosive acceleration and suddenness as a route runner that allows him to "eat up cushions" of off-man cornerbacks. After three years at Purdue, he transferred to Oklahoma where he showed feistiness after the catch, forcing missed tackles on 23% of his receptions. However, his analytical profile is among the weakest in recent draft history; he averaged just 1.35 career yards per route run, falling well below the historical threshold for NFL success. His performance against zone coverage (1.23 YPRR) is particularly concerning for a projected slot receiver. Fantasy managers should be wary of his 9.0% career drop rate and inability to box out defenders due to his small frame. While his dynamism pops on tape, his statistical inefficiencies make him a risky Round 4-5 project who must improve his efficiency to be a viable pro contributor.
