BRENEN THOMPSON
Scout's Take
Brenen Thompson is a "game-breaking" vertical threat whose 10.4-second 100-meter dash speed makes him a nightmare for defenses. After stints at Texas and Oklahoma, Thompson flourished in the SEC at Mississippi State, proving to be an efficient mover who can "drop into his hips on a dime". His stop-and-go footwork is elite, allowing him to explode out of breaks and generate massive downfield separation. In fantasy leagues, his comparison to Tank Dell or Marquise Brown highlights his "twitched up" playmaking ability. However, his 170-pound frame is a major liability; he lacks the physicality to work through outside leverage or hold his ground as a blocker. He is often "jittery" in lateral traffic and can be completely neutralized by physical press-man corners who disrupt his initial momentum. Thompson is a "gadget guy" at worst, but in a modern NFL that values slot suddenness, he has the tools to be a Day 1 contributor if schemed away from contact.
